Laura Benjamins

Music Educator & Researcher

Welcome!

I am a PhD Candidate in Music Education at Western University, Ontario, Canada.

My doctoral research, funded by a doctoral fellowship from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), employs a sociological lens to explore music-making practices in community music contexts, particularly within church worship settings.

My greater scholarly and research interests include the implementation of inclusive pedagogies within formal, informal, and non-formal musical settings; community music facilitation; reflective practice; and experiential learning.

This website describes my teaching and research experiences, with information about my research presentations, publications, and course instruction.

If you’re interested in speaking further, please don’t hesitate to contact me here.
